Items Accepted at Household Hazardous Waste Days

Any containers with fluids (ie, gasoline, oil, paint, etc.) must have secure, proper lids or caps.

  • Aerosol cans & solvents (varsol, paint thinners, etc.)
  • Automotive fluids
  • Auto batteries
  • Cleaners (bleach, oven cleaner, etc.)
  • Latex and oil paints
  • Finishing products (oil, glue, etc.)
  • Fluorescent and CFL Light Bulbs
  • Gasoline (containers NOT returned)
  • Household batteries
  • Paint (latex and oil)
  • Pesticides, herbicides, insecticides
  • Photographic chemicals
  • Pool chemicals
  • Printer toner and ink jet cartridges
  • Propane cylinders
  • Propane tanks
  • Used motor oil

Not Accepted

  • Sharps (needles, syringes, lancets)
  • PCBs
  • Radioactive waste
  • Pathological waste

Due to provincial regulations, these events are for residents only. Hazardous waste is NOT accepted from businesses and organizations, including builders, camps, charities, contractors, painting companies, places of worship, restaurants, retailers, and schools. These businesses and organizations need to arrange for private haulage and processing for hazardous waste.

Special Waste

In addition to our Household Hazardous Waste Days, you can drop off special waste at our landfills at any time. These special waste items include:

  • Antifreeze containers - 30 litres or less (empty only)
  • Household batteries
  • Oil containers - 30 litres or less (empty only)
  • Propane cylinders (empty only)
  • Propane tanks (empty only)
