March 16th, 2020. 3:00 p.m.
The Municipality Of Dysart et al Emergency Control Group just just met and have made the decision to shut down all public facilities until further notice in an effort to reduce the risk to both residents and staff of spread of the Covid-19 virus.
The following facilities have been closed until further notice:
A.J. LaRue Arena and Community Centre
Haliburton Highlands Museum
West Guilford Community Centre
Harcourt Community Centre
Council and Committees will continue to meet until further notice, but delegations will be cancelled in an effort to keep gathering size to a minimum to allow for appropriate social distancing. Correspondence can also be submitted to Council via letters or emails, so a personal delegation is not always necessary.
The Municipal Office will remain open, but visitors will be screened prior to entering the Council Chambers and we would ask those with any symptoms to please not enter the office. There are many online resources available and staff can usually help on the phone or through email just as effectively.
The Ontario Government has issued a self assessment tool which can be accessed at the following link: They recommend you call Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000 if you suspect you have symptoms.
We can’t be too careful in the coming weeks and need to continue to work together to slow down the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Remember to wash your hands frequently with soap and water and practice your social distancing and we will get through this as a healthy community.
