Fireworks

The use of fireworks in the Municipality of Dysart et al is governed by its Fireworks By-Law.

The Fire Department will not respond to fireworks or flying lantern complaints. Fireworks and flying lantern complaints should be directed to the By-law Department.

The Municipality regulates the dates and permitted times for the setting off of Consumer Fireworks within Dysart et al. 

Fireworks are permitted on:

  • New Year’s Eve (December 31) from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.
  • Victoria Day weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Holiday Monday) from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Canada Day from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. (2022: you could light fireworks on Friday, July 1; Saturday, July 2; Sunday, July 3)
  • August Civic Holiday weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Holiday Monday) from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Labour Day weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Holiday Monday) from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

In order to hold a Display Fireworks event, you must complete and submit a Public Display Fireworks Event Approval Form along with supporting documents.

The Public Display Fireworks Event Approval Form, along with supporting documents, must be submitted to the Municipality no later than (14) business days prior to the event.

Flying Lanterns

Flying lanterns (sale and use) are not allowed in the Municipality of Dysart et al.
