Let’s Get The Lead Out – Protecting Our Lakes
The Drag and Spruce Lakes Property Owners Association (DSLPOA) is proud to lead the LGTLO (Let’s Get The Lead Out) campaign to reduce toxic lead contamination in our local lakes from fishing tackle.
Why It Matters: Lead sinkers, weights and jigs pose a serious threat to our wildlife. Even small amounts – as little as a pencil tip – can poison loons, ducks, swans, fish, and other aquatic species. Once ingested, lead accumulates and can cause neurological damage, reproductive failure, and death in birds and fish, harming the entire lake ecosystem.
How You Can Help:
•Switch to lead-free tackle (available locally at Outdoors Plus Haliburton)
•Visit the new LGTLO section on the Drag and Spruce Lakes Property Owners Association Website for facts, resources, and more.
Partnership with the Municipality of Dysart et al.
We are grateful for the Municipality of Dysart et Al’s support in helping promote this important initiative on their website, helping reach more residents and visitors across Haliburton County.
Together, by taking these simple steps, we can protect our beloved lakes and the wildlife that depend on them for future generations.
