Winter Activities

Winter in Dysart et al is a great time to get outdoors and explore what the area has to offer. 

If heading out this winter, please be sure to adhere to all provincial regulations and guidelines. For up to date information visit the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit website.  The province is under a Stay Home order during the provincial shutdown from January 14 - February 12, 2021. Some of the activities and/or businesses listed below may be closed under the shutdown order. 

Dysart is fortunate to be home to Sir Sam's Ski/Ride, with views at the top of the hill overlooking Eagle Lake.

Fat biking is permitted on the snowshoe trails located at Glebe Park. Please use caution and yield to people snowshoeing. Please note that fat bikes are not permitted on the Cross County Ski Trails.

The Municipality of Dysart et al is home to one indoor rink, at the A.J.LaRue Arena, located at 728 Mountain Street.  The rink will be closed until February 12, 2021 in accordance with the Provincial Shutdown order.

 

There are three outdoor rinks open in the Municipality, weather permitting.  The rinks are located at:

  • 76 Maple Avenue
  • Harcourt Community Centre
  • West Guildford Community Centre

    

  • There are six kilometers of snowshoe trails located behind the Haliburton Highlands Museum. You can also borrow snowshoes from the museum for use on these trails. Recommended donation for borrowing a pair of snowshoes is $5.00.

With 26 public boat launches, there are many access points to the lakes. If heading out for an ice fishing adventure, make sure to know the area, check the ice and let others know of your plan. Have a valid fishing license and know what fish are in season on the lake you are fishing.
