Significant Weather Event and Dysart Landfills Closure 12-28-2025

The Municipality of Dysart et al has declared a Significant Weather Event at 12:00pm on December 28, 2025 until further notice due to Freezing Rain.

Up to 20mm of Freeing Rain is forecast for the Haliburton area followed by snow flurries on Monday, December 29. Road users are asked to avoid travel as roadways, parking lots and sidewalks may become icy and hazardous.

As a result Dysart Landfills will be closing at 2pm today Sunday December 28th, 2025 due to inclement weather. The West Guilford Landfill will be reopening at noon on Monday December 29th, 2025.

  • December 25th (Christmas Day) All Landfills Closed
  • December 26th (Boxing Day) Open: 10am to 5pm: Haliburton, West Guilford,  Open: 12 noon to 5pm: Harcourt, Kennisis Lake, West Bay 
  • December 31st (New Year's Eve)  Open: 8am to 12:30pm Haliburton,  Closed: Harcourt, Kennisis Lake, West Bay, West Guilford
  • January 1st (New Year's Day)  All Landfills Closed
  • January 2nd Open: 8am to 5pm Haliburton, West Guilford, Closed: Harcourt, Kennisis Lake, West Bay

Welcome Centre Closed

  • Closed: 2pm December 24, 25, 26.  Reopening: 8am on December 27, 28, 29, and 30. 
  • Closed: 3:30pm December 31. Reopening: 8am on January 2.

Notice of 2026 Budget Meetings

There will be a Special Meeting of Council on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. to discuss the 2026 Mayoral Budget. The Municipality has also set January 9 and February 13, 2026 to review the Budget (if required).

The ServiceOntario mobile service centre is in Haliburton at the A.J. LaRue Arena parking lot every other Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering convenient access to government services.
