Recreation From Home
During this time of physical distancing and self-isolation, finding time to focus on your physical well being is more important than ever. Many communities across Canada and the United States have taken the time to post activities that can be done from the comfort of you home. These activities range from physical activities to arts and crafts to activities to stimulate your brain. Below are links to some of these websites. You are encouraged to take a look at them and find an activity that meets your needs.
Balanced Fitness Classes – Haliburton Highlands Health Services is offering prerecorded virtual balance fitness classes. The classes include a gentle seated class, light intensity and moderate standing class, several strength classes, including standing body weight and seated ball and band classes.
YMCA at Home – “Free YMCA Programs anytime, anywhere!”
The City of Hamilton – has created a series of Recreation at Home Activities. Each week they share new activities in a calendar format under four main themes: Physical Activity, Creative Activity, Mindfulness Activity and Preschool Activity.
Home Sweet Home – the City of Newmarket has a variety of recreation and leisure based activities that you can complete from the comfort of your own home.
CNIB – Recreation programs that can be completed at home
City of Courtenay – offers activity suggestions, including instructional videos for adults, kids and families
Canadian Forces Morale & Welfare Services – Many activities to help you get off your couch and stay active. There are also ideas for craft activities.
Mission Oaks Recreation Centre – a variety of activities to try at home
City of Cupertino – includes brain teasers and ideas for remaining active
The Haliburton County Tourism Department has also come up with a way to explore the Haliburton Highlands From a distance.
