Recreation Programs

The Municipality of Dysart et al offers a variety of programs and drop-in activities for all ages.  Recreation programs are a great way to get active, meet people and have fun!

Create your account and password on-line to register for programs.  Due to Covid-19 all programs, including drop-in programs require preregistration.

Yoga classes

At different times throughout the year, yoga classes are offered at the A.J. LaRue Arena and/or outdoors at Head Lake Park.

 

Jolly Jog

Dig through your closets and find your festive holiday attire! The Jolly Jog is a family friendly event designed to get you in the holiday spirit.

You have the option to walk, jog, run the route. Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing may even be an option if the weather permits.

There will be three route options ranging from approximately 1. 5 km - 5 km in distance. Please wear appropriate attire and footwear for the conditions. The weather will determine the ground cover on the routes.

Cash donations for the Haliburton County Food Bank are appreciated, but not necessary for participation.

Meet outside at the Haliburton Highlands Museum. Event begins at 10:00 am.

Line dancing 

Dancing is a great way to remain active and fit. Line dancing is held Wednesdays in the auditorium at the A.J. LaRue Arena (728 Mountain Street) from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.

 

Bring your indoor shoes.  The cost is $3.00 per person. 

Adult-only skating
  • $2.00 per person
  • CSA approved helmets strongly recommended
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • No person shall be permitted on the ice surface without skates

Public skating

  • $2.00 per person
  • CSA approved helmets strongly recommended
  • No person shall be permitted on the ice surface without skates
  • Youth 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult
  • Parents are not allowed to carry youth while on the ice surface
  • Tag, chase or reckless behaviours are not permitted
  • No food or drinks allowed on the ice surface, players benches or penalty boxes
  • Hockey gear, other than helmets and gloves are not permitted during public skating
  • Hockey sticks and pucks are not permitted during public skating

*During minor hockey tournaments, there will be no public skating or public skating will occur later in the day.
Ball hockey 
Youth ball hockey is one of our most popular programs.
Snowshoe hikes
Guided snowshoe hikes may be available January - March. The hikes are weather dependant and will be posted as the dates become available.
Stick and Puck

Stick and Puck is available most Sundays at the A.J. LaRue Arena.

Full equipment is required and a CSA approved helmet.

The cost is $5.00 per person.

Gaga Ball Games -

Come play Gaga Ball! Youth ages 4 – 12, will be split into 2 age groups and rotate rounds.
