Mayor’s Message for Summer 2020

The summer of 2020 is officially here and we have been enjoying some lovely weather. We have been living with the Covid-19 pandemic for over 3 months. Everyone has had to make changes to the way we live and work. I want to thank all our health care workers as well as those who support the vulnerable people in our community. You have risen to the challenge and we are truly grateful. As we head into this summer, we know many will be enjoying their cottage properties more than ever. We will also see many renters coming here as the short-term rentals were permitted by the Province. The message I sent out early May asked that people bring the supplies that they needed. A.J. LaRue Arena – ice inquiries

On May 29, 2020 the Dysart Emergency Control Group made the difficult decision to put a hold on installing ice for the 2020 summer season at the A.J. LaRue Arena. Given that there are still so many restrictions regarding indoor recreation facilities and the activities that can be conducted at them, the group decided it was best to hold off until September 1, 2020 at the earliest. Arena staff are prepared to start the process of creating ice in mid-August to be ready for a September 1 start, provided more restrictions are lifted by the provincial government and we are able to meet the requirements of the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit.
