About the Canadian National Pond Hockey Championships All across the nation, on frozen ponds, in community rinks and in state-of-the-art arenas, Canadians are playing our favourite national pastime: HOCKEY. The game is perpetually tied to our sense of what it means to be Canadian and is perhaps our most identifiable icon. For some Canadians, it’s what defines them. They say it’s what binds this country together. We believe there is no better way to celebrate the sport than to play it on the pond! OPEN WEEKEND Jan 25, 26 2019 Men’s Open Division: Competitive division with a minimum age of 25+ Men’s Rec Division: Competitive but with a bit more emphasis on fun 25+ Women’s Open Division: Competitive division with a minimum age of 19 + IT World Canada Co-ed Division: Competitive but with a bit more emphasis on fun 19+. Yours Outdoors is kicking off the weekend with "A Story of Snowshoes" presented at the Haliburton Highlands Museum on Friday January 25th from 7-9pm. Hear the stories behind a remarkable collection of heritage snowshoes and some amazing snowshoe treks.  You will talk the walk with Craig MacDonald, historian and retired outdoor recreation specialist from Algonquin Park.
