Dysart et al’s Emergency Management Control Group met again today and have declared a State of Emergency following the Declaration by the Province earlier in the week.
Effective Monday, March 23rd, 2020, the West Bay and the Kennisis Lake landfill sites will be closed until further notice. The other three landfills will continue to operate as normal with the exception of Harcourt that will not be able to take construction materials due to lack of cash alternatives at that site. No cash will be taken in West Guilford or Haliburton, but credit and debit are available in those two locations. We would really like to encourage people not to bring loads other than regular garbage and recycling to reduce human contact.
A reminder that all public facilities are closed, ice is in the process of being removed at the arena and programming and Committee meetings have been postponed for the time being.
Public privies that are outdoors in our parks remain open for public use and are cleaned thoroughly and inspected once per day as they are spread throughout a large geographic area. Please exercise necessary personal precautions when using public toilets.
Council is scheduled to meet on March 24th, 2020 at 9:00 a.m., but with a very limited agenda and no delegations. The agenda can be viewed online at www.haliburton.civicweb.net. As we have closed our offices to members of the public attending in person, Council meeting attendance will be restricted to the media only. Council, staff and media will all be screened at the front entrance prior to entering the building.
While the office is closed to the public, staff continue to be available to respond via email or by phone to address your concerns in any area including Fire, Roads, Landfills, Museum, Parks and Recreation, Finance, Building, By-Law, Planning and Administration. Please contact the appropriate staff member as listed on our website at www.dysartetal.ca. The phone number for the Administration office is 705-457-1740.
The Emergency Control Group will continue to meet and provide updates regularly. Please stay safe and keep your personal space.
