Swimming Lessons – Register now!

New this year!  Dysart et al has hired a certified swim instructor to teach swimming lessons at Pine Lake and Eagle Lake.

The sessions will consist of 9 classes.  The last Friday of each session is reserved as a make-up day in the event of cancellations due to inclement weather.

Session 1: Monday, July 4 – Thursday, July 14 (Eagle Lake) – Friday, July 15 make-up day if needed

Session 2: Monday, July 18 – Thursday, July 28 (Pine Lake) – Friday, July 29 – make-up day if needed

Session 3:  Monday, August 1 – Thursday, August 11 (Eagle Lake) – Friday, August 12 – make-up day if needed

Session 4: Monday, August 15 – Thursday, August 25(Pine Lake) – Friday, August 26 – make-up day if needed

All classes will follow the standards set out by the Canadian Red Cross Society.

Swim levels and descriptions:

Parent and Tot 1 (4-12 months) 30 min.Babies and parents or caregivers Parent and Tot 2 (12-14 months) 30 min.Toddlers or older babies with parent or caregiver. Parent and Tot 3 (2-3 years) 30 min.Develop skills in swimming, glides and floating with parent or caregiver.
Preschool 1 (3-5 years) 30 min. Develops skill in swimming, glides, floating and builds awareness of deep water and safe entries without the assistance of parent or caregiver. Preschool 2 (3-5 years) 30 min.Skills in front and back floats, rollovers and 2 m swims Preschool 3 (3-5 years) 30 min.Learn to swim 5 m. Focuses on good judgement in and around water.  Introduction to dep water with P.F.D.
Preschool 4 (3-5 years) 30 min.Independent glides, kicking in deep water.  Build endurance by increasing distance of front and back swimming. Preschool 5 (3-5 years) 30 min.Improve skills of front and back swims, increase their distance. Swimmer 1 (6-12 years) 30 min.Orientation to the water and surroundings.  Introduction to floats and comfort in water.
Swimmer 2 (6-12 years) 30 min.Build skills with front and back swims, 10 m swim, comfort in deep water. Swimmer 3 (6-12 years) 45 min. Introduction to front crawl arm recovery.  Diving is introduced.  15 m swim  Swimmer 4 (6-12 years) 45 min.Front crawl, back glide, kneeling dives, surface support, 25m endurance swim
Swimmer 5 (6-12 years) 45 min. Introduction to back crawl, sculling, whip kick on back, front crawl breathing refinement, 50 m swim. Swimmer 6 (6-12 years) 45 min.Introduction to scissor kick, egg beater, stride entries and compact jumps.  Complete a 300 m workout. Teen/Adult Learn to Swim 45 min.Program for beginners and/or swimmers who would like help with their strokes.
