Bear Wise Program

It’s that time of year when the Bears are waking up and in search of food.  The Municipality of Dysart et al and the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) Bear Wise Program remind you to help reduce you chances of encountering a bear by:

  • Storing all garbage in bear resistant containers, secure sheds or garages
  • Do NOT stock pile garbage; Attend landfill regularly
  • Clean outdoor grills after each use; including the grease trap
  • Don’t leave pet food outside
  • Never put meat, bones, fish or dairy products in a compost bin
  • Only fill bird feeders in winter months
  • Pick ripe fruit from trees and bushes
