Haliburton County (Haliburton Highlands), located two and a half hour drive northeast of the GTA, has a population of 17,000 that swells to over 30,000 in the summer tourist season. Long renowned as offering a variety of tourism, cottage and artisan opportunities, the area has now become one of the province’s foremost retirement destinations, in part because of its incredible sense of community. With its many lakes, rivers and streams, The Highlands are truly a natural work of art.
Haliburton Highlands Health Services administers two state of the art hospital facilities in Haliburton and Minden. A modern Family Health Centre provides a full range of medical services throughout the community. The County and HHHS are continually seeking out new and innovative ways to recruit health care professionals to meet current and future needs.

In creating this video, we considered the long and tedious commute that so many people in urban centres must endure each and every day. What better way to showcase an alternative lifestyle than to highlight the many varied activities available in The Highlands. Some of our health care professionals really do boat, bike or jog to and from work. And imagine ending your work day, and five to ten minutes later be sitting on the dock or kayaking or swimming or golfing or…..
