Welcome to the Municipality of Dysart et al!
With an abundance of clean air, caring communities and a spirit of enterprise, we are truly the "Heart of the Highlands". Bordering on the south of Algonquin Park, we are Ontario’s premier playground for all seasons.
The United Townships of Dysart, Guilford, Dudley and Harburn were incorporated on January 7, 1867 and the first by-law was passed on July 13, 1867. Since then we have grown to encompass the townships of Harcourt, Bruton, Havelock, Eyre and Clyde with an area of 1,473.87 square kilometers. Our official name is the Corporation of the United Townships of Dysart, Dudley, Harcourt, Guilford, Harburn, Bruton, Havelock, Eyre and Clyde; however we are known as the Municipality of Dysart et al. Lake View
Within the Municipality there is the Village of Haliburton as well as the hamlets of Donald, Eagle Lake, Fort Irwin, Harcourt and West Guilford that offer a range of retail services and products.
Tourism and forestry are the main industries, with a growing maple syrup production, as well. Driven by high demand, the retail and service sectors are expanding and updating to meet the needs of its permanent and seasonal residents.
Municipal Office Here is "Where it’s Art" began and continues to thrive. The Haliburton School of the Arts, as an integral part of the newly built Haliburton Campus of Fleming College, provides top rated arts education and higher learning opportunities for the community.
Our public schools are more than bricks and mortar…Learning is life long and fully embraces the natural world. Our elementary and secondary schools encourage students to discover the arts, music and drama. The Haliburton Highlands Secondary School houses the Northern Lights Pavilion where local Rising Stars and amateur theatre productions are showcased.
With top rated medical services that include a new hospital, medical clinic and a 9-1-1 service, we invite health care practitioners to settle here – and work while you play!
