HOLIDAY FIRE SAFETY

Each year people suffer injury or die as a result of holiday decorations and carelessness at Christmas. Trees, lights, candles, and ornaments produce extra hazards in our homes at a time when the busy season may distract us from good safety practices. The Dysart Fire Department wants you to enjoy a safe holiday season so please follow these fire safety tips. If you buy a fresh tree, keep it in water, when the needles start to fall off and break when bent it is time to take it out. Make sure your tree does not block an exit. Never burn an old Christmas tree or decorations in a fireplace or stove. These items burn rapidly and hot and could cause a chimney fire or sparks could start a fire on your roof. Office Holiday Hours

The Dysart et al Offices will be closed during the holidays from noon on Christmas Eve through to January 2nd, 2014.   Staff and Council would like to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday season as we prepare for the New Year ahead.  While the offices are closed, please remember that landfills will be closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day, but will otherwise have regular hours.  We’d also like to remind the public that cars should be parked safely off of the roadways to allow the roads and turn arounds to be cleared properly....
